Someone talk me down off the ledge...

I just bought a ridiculously expensive front load washer and dryer set. I'm supposed to save a bundle in electricity and water. Anyboy have these? What are your thoughts/experiences? Am I going to feel like a big dummy in a few months when I don't see crazy savings?

You likely won't actually look at your water/electric bills and say "Wow, I can see the savings!"........ but that's pure speculation because I don't have one.

It definitely uses a lot less water. I didn't notice much difference electrically. I do have a gas dryer though.

I'm pretty sure my mom was telling me about their front-end loading washer. She says it probably is cost saving, but they way they build them cause them to wear out faster than the older style of washing machines, so you end up spending more money sooner to replace it.

Relax, back away from the ledge. It is going to be just fine. Yes, we really like them. Yes, they use a lot less water. Yes, you will use an amazing less amount of soap. Yes, they are very quiet. Yes, they are much easier on your clothes. Back away now, back away slowly. That's right, now put down the clothes basket. Good. Good. You are going to be fine.

keep the washer door open when not in use to help keep it aired out.

Re: Someone talk me down off the ledge...

I have those. They are great. I got a great deal on mine. Got in on a "Friends and Family Sale" from the company manufacturer. Bought all new appliances. So it was a No brainer. You will use less soap. Less water. Easier on clothes. Make sure you apply for your rebates from Utilities Company. It will ease your pain.

My wife loves them. I bought the pedestals and no longer do you have to bend over to take stuff out of Washer. Open one door and into the dryer at the same level. So far so good.

we've had our's a few years. love them. the only thing is, if you have kids, the socks may get lost and the washer may have problems draining. get one of the mesh bags to wash the socks in and won't have any issues.

We got a Samsung set a year and a half ago for half price and love it. Really seems to get stuff cleaner than our old set that wasnt too bad. You can tell it uses less water, but we never looked into it as far as money.

Hopefully you will see some benefits from the wife for having bought such an expensive washer and dryer for her. Hopefully it will save her some time so she'll get to the dishes sooner too.

i have a fairly inexpensive laundry basket. it does not use water or electricity. i just throw my dirty clothes in it and a few days later they are clean and hanging in my closet. you should just get one of those.

I have noticed a small savings on each water and electricity. It is small but adds up over time. We love ours. Good purchase.
