Motorcycle Help: What should I buy?

I've owned and raced motorcycles pretty much my entire life, but sold my last one 4 years ago and haven't had one while I finished paying off my student loans. I'm looking at getting one now that I have those out of the way. Definitely want a road bike and am looking at spending somewhere between $2,000 and $3,750. I know a lot of people on here have bikes... so what say you?

I'm leaning towards a Yamaha V-Star. Anyone have any experience with them or want to sell one???

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

If you've raced motorcycles your entire life than I don't know why you would want a V-star or any cruiser. I tried one once and sold it 3 months later. It was like driving around on a sofa. If you were new to motorcycling and didn't know anything about speed then a cruiser would be fine but you're not.

Are you wanting something just to putt around town with or is this something you want to put a lot of miles on? If you are not going to go out on the highway I really like the supermoto bikes out there that you can get cheap.

If you want something relatively sporty but still comfortable than how about something like a Triumph Tiger?

I have a Honda 919 and it's perfect for me. Fast motor but you don't lay on the tank.

I raced motocross... dirtbikes. I've never really been into the look of supermoto bikes and have owned a crotch-rocket and hated it. I want something I can take out on the highways with my friends, who also have road bikes, and just enjoy a sunday afternoon.

Yamaha V-Max. You should be able to find one of those very reasonably. My dad had one and it was a blast to ride.

Everytime I hear someone drive by on a motorcycle that is excessively loud I think to myself a) they are compensating for something b) *********
