Re: Basketball Notebook: 2010 Scholarship count

Since we have no sophs for next year, and our poor depth at the position, I assume we will be looking hard for a juco PG for 2011?

We're going to have a really young team in 2011.

Re: Basketball Notebook: 2010 Scholarship count

I think in 2011, we look for a freshmen point guard along with a Juco. Unless we get a point guard to finish up the 2010 class.

Still think we need a PG. Hopefully a Juco.

I'm not real comfortable with just DG and Bubu at PG. I know Phillips can play some PG as well but I would really like to add another one before this signing period ends.

Re: Basketball Notebook: 2010 Scholarship count

I think we need to bring in at least two more two year JUCO's. If we do not then next year we will have to sign a very large class to field a competative team. If we do that then there will not be very much room for a strong 2012 class. By bringing in those JUCO's now, they should be ready to roll by next year when we really need them and then gone when we need open spots.

Chris---do you think we are going to still sign Godfrey or do you think Hoiberg is taking his own look at him.

Not sure if you are serious but CW confirmed that Colvin will not return as a memeber of the team.

Maybe FH could throw on the threads and play a little PG!

Re: Basketball Notebook: 2010 Scholarship count

Shoot... I was kind of hoping that Phillips was a 3 year guy instead of just 2.

I still think we need to look long and hard about adding a PG this year... if we can find a good one. We shouldn't settle on an average one though.

Relying on DG and Bubu (a walk-on) to lead the team next year is kinda scary IMO.

At this point, I'd almost say no to Godfrey and try to find a good PG? Godfrey sounds like he may not ever qualify here anyway?

Godfrey wants to be here though. We can still get a good PG and keep Godfrey.

Re: Basketball Notebook: 2010 Scholarship count

It's much more important to find a quality point guard next season. With how much Fred has talked about Diante, his is going to lean on him to lead the team this season.

College Basketball is a guard's game, and so the odds of finding a quality ball handler this late is much much lower than finding a quality forward.

Hopefully Phillips is a serviceable combo guard so next season SC and Phillips will start and the PG of the future is able to get his minutes in reserve.
