Re: Favre needs ankle surgery if wants to play in 2010

Thank goodness...maybe he will finally retire.

    Quick question:

What would lead the Sportscenter in this situation?

    1) Duke-UNC national championship
    2) Brett Favre retirment
    3) Red Sox- Yankees opening day

    I would say:

    1. Favre
    2. Red Sox/Yankees
    3. Duke/UNC

    What about this situation:

    1) ISU wins national championship with half court buzzer beater
    2) Tiger Woods 911 Call
    3) Onset of nuclear holocaust
    4) Favre retiring drama

    I'd still go with Favre.

Bummer. Why couldn't this have been determined sooner?

I supposed the downside of diagnosing this sooner is he'd be ready for training camp on day 1.

What if Favre hit the half court shot that won ISU the NC?

Re: Favre needs ankle surgery if wants to play in 2010

Favre would not reveal the exact diagnosis or the prognosis on how long it would take to recover from the surgery.
So we'll assume it takes X weeks to recover. Final preseason game is on D day, presuming camp breaks at the same time.

    D - X = date of surgery.

I actually like Farve. But this is just ridiculous.

Don't kid yourself. This is probably just an excuse for him not to go to Training Camp.

Regardless of peoples' personal feelings are against him, Farve was good for the NFL last year and especially good for the Vikings. (Didn't that MNF game against Green Bay set a new Neilson rating's mark?)

He'll be back and it will be Superbowl or bust for the Vikes.

I just don't understand why he keeps on doign this. The entire team from the owner to players already expressed publicly that they wouldn't mind him skipping the training camp. Does he still feel he needs to protect his image that he's not portrayed as a lazy player ?

Simple...just have three different sportscenters at the same time, and start one on each network.

You're assuming that this is in fact is the reason for the timing. It could very well be, or it could simply be that the doctors told him it would heal on its own (and maybe have told him to this point it was OK to run on it to stay in shape). Do you know this not to be the case?

No reason IMO, to spend a lot of emotional energy on this unless the story comes out (validated) that he was advised awhile ago to have surgery...and chose not to.
