    What they are saying

What other schools around the Big 12 are saying, and something that really made me think:

    my thoughts?

    Home run hire by ISU

    seriously, home run

he fails, they stay where they are...sucking and irrelevant

he succeeds and he will stick around...it's his alma mater and ISU is rebuilt again

    absolutely no down side
Sometimes it takes an outsider to get me thinking.

KU: Scout.com: Fred Hoiberg to Iowa State (!!)
Mizzou: Missouri Tigers Athletics :: Mizzou Sports :: TigerBoard.com :: New ISU coach
KSU: Scout.com: Hoiberg to coach Cyclones

    Re: What they are saying

I agree for the most part. This is the perfect time to try for the home run, jack pot type hire. We are already rock bottom.

What is the worst that could happen?

On the flip side, if he builds it, he'll stay here until he takes the AD spot.

    Re: What they are saying

I'm no KU basketball fan but the phog.net (rivals) site has some really knowledgeable fans on it. I really liked this one.

I don't see the desperation in this hire. Not at all.

There was no reason for Jamie to rush. It's not like he was competing with any other school for a head coach. It's pretty clear he knew what he wanted, and went after it.

Pollard has had to make three hires. 1. McDermott. While it didn't work, don't forget, Greg was a hot commodity at the time. He turned down the K-State job so he could take Iowa State. Forcing the Wildcats to go with option B, which was a guy named Huggy Bear. It didn't work out in Ames. But it was roundly applauded at the time of the hire.
    2. Gene Chizik. Chizik is a hell of a coach. He'll win at Auburn. He would have won in Ames. His players will win for the new guy. But seriously, you would turn down Auburn to stay in Ames?
And 3. Paul Rhoads. A terrific hire. Not a big name. But a proven record as a coordinator. Pitt. Auburn.
A local kid, grew up less than a half hour from Ames. Is passionate about Iowa State. And had a really good first year. 7 wins including the bowl game. Easily could have had nine wins. (KU and KSU).

So we now have hire #4. I'll give Pollard the benefit of the doubt.

Wow, those KU fans are special. There has to be an old lady they could push into traffic or a blind dog to kick somewhere, doesn't there? If they never win a game again it may be too soon.

I'm sure if you read down to the next couple of post on the KU board, he will be called a troller and then forced off the site.

How is what he said remotely incorrect? I think it's spot on.

As far as phog.net goes, I think it's the best message board on the internet outside of CF.

    Re: What they are saying

All other schools in the Big 12 at least have the ability to make rational thoughts and comments. KU fans are so stuck on themselves they lack any and all rational judgment.

    FYI- I hate KU fans.

He isn't a KU fan. Can't be. Way too much knowledge.

    I'm on Twitter too: Tre4ISU

    Or so I have read.
