    The Hoiberg Introductory Presser...

...what do you want to hear from JP, and more importantly from Hoiberg at this presser?

As for me, I want to hear that things will be turned around quickly. I will be greatly disappointed if we get any talk about patience, 4-5 year plans, or doing things the right way (read: slow and steady).

    I firmly believe two things:

    1) A CBB program can be turned around quickly.
    2) We desperately need the ISU MBB program to be turned around quickly.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

I think things COULD (IMO) turn around quicker. We have some good recruits coming in and have confirmed that they are still coming.

I would rethink your 2 firm beliefs. It all starts with recruiting. Be patient. I think Hoiberg can get it done, it's not going to happen over night if the cupboard is bare.

    Re: The Hoiberg Introductory Presser...

I'm not sure how the expectations can be raised, at least in the short term, when we're trotting out a guy as our head coach, that has never coached.

This is the equivalent of Wells Fargo hiring a call center manager to be their next company President. The manager has worked for the company for a while, seems very bright, etc - but has no experience whatsoever in running a company - let alone even being an officer.

And you'd tell me when that was announced - Wells could put in the presser their expectations for the company will be higher than before?

    Re: The Hoiberg Introductory Presser...

And over in Omaha yesterday: Barfknecht: Musical chairs good for all 3 programs - Omaha.com

According to reports Tuesday night, the Cyclones want Fred Hoiberg, the third-leading scorer in ISU history. Hoiberg, who currently works in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ front office, would definitely rally supporters at his alma mater.
In the world of Big Boy Athletics, that’s about as tidy a resolution as three coaches and three schools could ever hope for.
Maybe the toughest thing for McDermott at Creighton will be working up the requisite hate for the coach at Nebraska.
NU’s Doc Sadler and McDermott are good friends and phone buddies throughout the year.

    http://www.omaha.com/article/2010042...-for-creighton

If Dana Altman ever leaves Creighton, Rasmussen said, the first call would be to McDermott.
“I just kind of passed it off as Bruce trying to make me feel better,'' McDermott said. “But when we talked Saturday night, one of the first things he said was, ‘I told you that you'd be my first call.'''
That call, less than 24 hours after Rasmussen had learned that Altman was likely to become the head coach at Oregon, set in motion a whiplash-quick series of events that led to McDermott's introduction Tuesday as Creighton's 16th basketball coach.
McDermott and Rasmussen spoke at a press conference at D.J. Sokol Arena that also was attended by fans, Creighton staff and some of his new players. For those players, it was the first time they had a chance to see, hear and meet their new coach.
“I'm really excited,'' said Kenny Lawson, minutes after being introduced to McDermott. “I've heard that he's a player's coach and a great guy. I'm excited about working with him.''
Fred can top this today. He can be the real player's coach.

Let my Fred's Posse Ride: Georges, Naz, Hogue, Bryce, Nader, Monte, Matt, and McKay.

Is it really, the NBA is below the college ranks now? Your logic is beyond belief.

    Those quotes are hilarious...

GM and Sadler phone buddies...what are they sharing...secrets to being pathetic in the Big 12?

And they guy that "heard GM is a player's coach"...yeah I guess so...for guys that like to transfer after playing for him.

    Hilarious.

    It's Vinny Del Negro #2.

I don't mean that necessarily in a bad way, as I'm not one of those Bulls fans that hates him, but I wouldn't have said we're in a position to pull the same kind of move.
