    Re: Jeff Rutter

Doubt it... Would love to see him leave give the position to Grayer and then hire a proven assistant coach.

So if he does leave then what happens with Godfrey? or is rivals just way wrong and Godfrey is an OTz recruit?

Let Rutter go. I have faith that Hoiberg and Otz will be able to keep Godfrey and all our other recruits in the fold.

    Re: Jeff Rutter

I agree, let Rutter go, keep Otz, Nurse and Grayer as DBO and get someone with 10+ years as an assistant.

I read in the Kenosha paper today that he has decided to stay at ISU. It did not say in what capacity

    Re: Jeff Rutter

Mac extended an invitation to Jeff to join him on the Creighton staff soon after the announcement was made, but Jeff declined the invitation. I hope Jeff is retained by Fred because he is a tremendous person. He already has an excellent working relationship with the various departments within the university and would be an excellent director of operations. I don't know what Fred's plans are for Grayer's responsibilities, but I hope he can find a way to keep both Jeff's.

    Re: Jeff Rutter

I say keep Rutter at director of ops. As far as I understand it, when a full staff is in place, the director of ops cannot recruit. So why put Grayer there? Wouldn't you want Grayer recruiting Michigan? Jeff is a great ambassador for the program. I think that Fred would be smart to keep him on board.

I like the way Snrub thinks.

I like this. If Rutter will be paid by the AD anyways, might as well have him help make the transition for the new staff as smooth as possible. I still do not want Grayer as an actual assistant, but rather an understudy to Rutter as DoBO

    Re: Jeff Rutter

Rutter is staying on. That has already been decided.

In what capacity remains unclear, but it would seem Director of Basketball Operations will likely be his role.
