Speaking of rumor threads...this was posted on ESPN Rumors:

Greg McDermott was on thin ice at Iowa State. He probably did everyone a favor by taking the job at Creighton -- essentially going back to the league where he had his prior success. So, who will continue the difficult rebuilding process in Ames, Iowa?
The Des Moines Register is reporting that Billy Gillispie has expressed interest in the Big 12 job. It isn't so long ago that he was head coach at league memeber Texas A&M, but the spectre of hiring a coach with a history of alcohol abuse might be too much for a school that is still smarting from the damage done by Larry Eustachy's post-game parties.
Other possibilities include McDermott assistant Nick Nurse, current Tennessee assistant Steve Forbes, former NBA head coach Eric Musselman, or current Dayton head man Brian Gregory.
Forbes and Gregory have been mentioned for other jobs this season, and stayed put. Nurse is an Iowa State legend who could step in immediately.
Look for the Cyclones to move quickly on this hire. The dominoes seem to be lined up.

Think they might have meant State of Iowa Legend, but that doesn't really make sense either, must be thinking of Gable

Quote from imported_blubberhawk on HN after ISU beatdown of Iowa in Carver '14

"When you lose to a fricking joke of a program like ISU, you get what you deserve. That game is a perfect illustration of why our head coach should be retired.
In defense of the Big ten network, it is tough to find Iowa games anymore when we aren't embarrassed."

I know reporters get things wrong now and then...but I thought that was funny! Needs to be edited out of the "premium" section of ESPN.com...why should people pay for incorrect info?

That aside, it even seemed funny to refer to him a "McDermott assistant" without mentioning that he was just hired last week. Has Nurse even had time to update his linkedin page?
