I will be happy if it is Billie G, LE, Brian Gregory, (Man, I DISLIKE that name "Greg" now because of GMac....and his horrible coaching...so maybe not even consider that.) or Mark Montgomery from Michigan State.

Sleazeball? He's had a couple of PERSONAL problems with drinking, which apparently has been cleared up. He has NEVER been found guilty of any NCAA violations. I'm pretty sure Rhoads would like him fine.

The answer you'll likely get to that is "Who cares if the head coaches don't get along, as long as we win" (or until the coaches who can't stand BG leave)...

Absolutely not! The next coach must be a proven winner. We had a "good guy" the last four years and lacked the winning. I will not be happy if we get a similar "good guy" who can't win for our next coach!

What makes Gillispie a sleeze ball?

Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that. ~ George Carlin

There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old’s life:
The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves Orcs. ~ John Rogers

Exactly - they could go out one night and have a couple of Shirley Temples...

Well, people need some sort of reason to hate a guy that has done nothing but win everywhere he has coached at, however irrational that reason may be...

when can we make the sign that says Victory with Honor. Ours is VERY Iowa State in its sentiment. "Hey, we lost again, but damn it we did it with integrity!"

Huggin's had similar issues. How's he doing at West Virginia?

It was a horrible hire - I mean, he "touches" his injured players on the court...

Lets face it. Basketball at this point is inherently dirty. Youve gotta live in the gray area. That doesnt mean paying recruits or flagrant violations, but it does mean bending the rules as far as possible without breaking them. Much like I am sure most in this thread do on their taxes. We know GMac lived in the white and was all about running a squeaky clean ship. That isnt going to work almost anywhere, certainly not at ISU.

No offense, but McDermott wasn't really that dishonorable. He made a business decision and a smart one. It looked like he had one bad season left at ISU and then he would be fired. He now reportedly has a 10 yr (insiane!) contract. He didn't claim to be "firmly entrenched" before he left and he told Jaime about the situation up front. Not very snakelike.

In the end it will hopefully turn out to be a Win/Win situation for both GMac and ISU.

I think we just loved to say that Mac had integrity like it was something unique to him. The only reason people said that is because he didn't win. Roy, Coach K, Boeheim seem to do just fine being clean, but you wouldn't hear that first.. you hear about each of their National Titles and Hall of Fame credentials.
