    Worst NFL draft picks

    Worst all-time first-round picks - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Interesting read. I'm not sure why Ramsey is getting shafted though. He could still turn out to be alright in his career.

    Re: Worst NFL draft picks

I almost forgot all about Cade McNown. He and McNabb were supposed to be McSpecial. We all know how that's worked out.

As far as Ramsey being on the list - he's done nothing yet and doesn't seem poised to do so anytime soon.

I agree he's not much right now, but the fact that there are lots worse QB's right now who have a bad TD/TO ratio. Of course, maybe some of those QB's weren't drafted as high.

Right...these picks are ones that were on the first day - or I think all in the first round.

Rarely is a team criticized for who they draft in the later rounds.

He would fall under the blanket statement of "Somehow, the NFL keeps allowing Penn State running backs to apply for admission into the league" and "System back"

Also, I can't believe Tony Mandarich wasn't on the list, he was the poster boy for horrible picks until Ryan Leaf came along.

Talking Re: Worst NFL draft picks

I see this list only covers the time period after the NFL / AFL merger in 1970, but I can't let that stop me from having fun at EIU's expense.

QB Randy Duncan of Iowa was the #1 OVERALL draft pick in 1958, going to the Green Bay Packers, where he was cut in training camp by rookie Head Coach Vince Lombardi. He never played a down of NFL football...

Footnote: There were other #1 overall picks who didn't play in the NFL during the early days (Jay Berwanger chose a business career, Ernie Davis died, etc.), but Duncan was the only one who attempted a career and failed! He has however enjoyed a nice run as a hawkeye announcer...

I think this list is for a "specific slot" in the first round. For example, Lawrence Phillips is the worst pick in the sixth slot of the first round since 1970. It's kinda a goofy concept...

    Re: Worst NFL draft picks

I'm a huge Vikings fan, but the Dimitrius Underwood pick was one of the worst in history. Dennis Green was never a great draft guy but this pick was ridiculous. Nobody did homework on the guy beyond what he did on the field and he ended up being a complete bust before he set foot on the practice field. Don't you think they could have talked to someone about his mental "issues" before he was considered as a first rounder?

I am pretty sure that Robert Gallery has to be way up there, that put the Raiders back a few years.

You are absolutely correct. It is by pick.

The Boz-eroid was taken in the supplemental draft. You're right, huge bust though.
