I'm guessing a golden retriever. Did Air Bud have any coaching buddies?

Re: What Kind of Coach Will We Hire?

I was going to pose this question earlier. what should the criteria be?

    I hear...

    No mid majors!
No coaches w/o head coaching experience!

Which kind of contradicts each other for what we can get

I think the realistic outlook is an assistant from a major program, and hopefully one who can recruit his tail off. Have to get some players to Ames.

This is what I think. Someone who has been an assistant for a long time around a winning program such as the assistant from Michigan State. They've been around winning, how a good coach runs practices (i.e. Izzo), probably can recruit, etc.

Oh, and it might be their first shot as head coach in D1 so they would probably try and do their best at it. Even if they thought of ISU as a stepping stone to an even greater program, they'd still be very driven.

Re: What Kind of Coach Will We Hire?

I think this will be a tough search. Maybe the assistant coach is the way to go knowing that chances are they will be in and out within a few years. Outside shot we find another Orr who is looking for somewhere to spend his last few years rebuilding a program. I dont have anyone in mind but I guy can dream cant he?

Agree, and it would be fine by me. In fact, I hope that is what happens.

Maybe we can lure Bobby Cremins away from Charleston or wherever he is

I am with isuno1fan on this (did I just say that?). I think Nurse would be a solid hire! 13 years of head coaching experience. Players seem to really like him. Why not?

I also like the thought of Forbes, Montgomery, and Bill Kennedy

Don't like the thought of Gregory

That's a fun name. I always enjoyed his GT teams.
    If nothing else, it's different.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

He might be a good hire, but it depends on if we want our head coach to be able to recruit or just let his assistants do it. We don't know how well Nurse can recruit?
