Is Ham's LOI to LSU binding?

I know that it's binding for HS students. But this situation is different insofar as he's already enrolled at ISU.

I imagine the answer is "yes," which leads me to ask, if there's a coaching change at ISU, and Ham wanted to stay and play (rather than transfer and sit) is there a protocol where LSU would let him out of his LOI?

All is hypothetical because for all I know Ham is leaving ISU because he hates the campus life, but...

By the joy that he seemed to be taking in this, I'd say he should stay away.

I don't think you sign an LOI when you transfer. He may have signed a scholarship agreement with LSU but I don't think you sign a new LOI when you transfer.

Yeah at this point I don't want guys back that don't want to be here. I'm ticked that we still let these guys that have decided to leave still use our practice facilities too.

I'm not positive, but I don't think that transfers from a 4 year school sign LOI's. They can have a verbal commit or understanding, but nothing would be locked in until the time of enrollment or the scholarship agreement is signed. I'm not sure of the timing for transfers signing the papers. Returning players would do so about this time of the year.

Re: Is Ham's LOI to LSU binding?

Both would be welcomed back should they decide to return. IMO, it's clear they left because of the coach, not the university.

I don't see either doing so (coming back), however.

Re: Is Ham's LOI to LSU binding?

Good to know on the LOI, or lack thereof for a transfer.

As to Ham being a bad egg, he's 20 years old and acting like a bit of punk, at least as it relates to his internet postings. (Based on our own postings into the cyberspace of this board, that doesn't seem so unusual.) For all I know, if the new coach sat down and had a meeting with him, he'd be fine.

Again, it's all a hypothetical because he may want out of dodge no matter the coach.

Re: Is Ham's LOI to LSU binding?

As far as I'm concerned any guys who have already decided to leave aren't worth the hassle of trying to get to come back. They bailed on this program and I don't care if it was because of this coaching staff or not, they quit on this program and I don't want to see us trying to cater to them now and re-recruiting them. We can't let players run the program and just have their way when things get tough. Both Ham and Colvin have shown they need some growing up to do.
