    Eating my words

WOW! Things got interesting after I went to bed. I'm man enough to say it appears pigs are flying today!

For future reference...whatever I say, believe the opposite!

Hope we can hang on to everybody (including the 2 yesterday) or we are going to be in some ridiculously bad shape. Hoping JP saw this coming and they were proactive with a plan.

Highly doubt Jamie saw this coming. If he did, he should pack his bags too for not firing him long time ago.

What? If he saw it coming, then why would he fire him? Positive $800,000 versus negative $2.5 million? Obvious decision there. That said, I doubt he saw it coming.

    JP: Now what happened?
GM: I have a meeting with Rasmussen. Can I go, JP?
    JP: Go? Go where?
GM: To Des Moines. He is an old friend. I use to nbeat his team all the time before I went Ames.
JP: I have a limo for you.
GM: Thx, JP. If I am offered another 9 years, will you match?
    JP: You better take it.

It takes a big man to admit when he's wrong. It takes an even BIGGER man to point at that big man & laugh to his face.

OK, he saw it coming and totally missed out on the opportunity for a ton of good coaches before signing day.

Don't disagree with you very often GC but will have to disagree on this one. If JP knew anything about this then it was a net of $3.3M for us ($2.5M buyout plus the $800K we would have missed out on if we fired him and he was then hired by Creighton). Pretty smart move if you ask me but I'm guessing he knew nothing about this or he wouldn't have signed 2 new assistants last week unless they are part of his master plan.

Pick your poison there. Now the new head coach might be able to afford some decent assistants.

    Re: Eating my words

When I started the "McDermott to Creighton?" thread, you said there was absolutely 0% chance this would ever happen. If you would have simply inserted two little words before your statement (I believe), then it wouldn't have been so bad. But you kept stating your opinion as fact, and that can often times get you into trouble.

That's nice of you to come on boards this morning and admit it.

I can assure you that GMAC was encouraged to consider his options.

    Re: Eating my words

Anyone else think that perhaps JP "supported" McDermott in hopes that another school, such as Creighton, would hire him away from us?

Chuck Lidell: I paint my toenails with pink and black polish. Problem is, I get more paint on my toes and on the carpet than on my nails. Any advice?
Maria Sharapova: Don't you beat up other guys for a living? I don't know how to answer this.
