    Tom Perticone

I just found out that Tom Perticone passed away earlier this year (back in January). He was a defensive back in the late 70's for ISU. He was kind of famous for putting a huge hit on Thomas Lott of OU. Anyway, I found out only today so thought some of you would like to know if you remember Tom.

Thanks, as I had missed that.

He has a hammer on the '76 team as was Boskey.

I remember that hit! That was the hardest hit I have ever seen at the Jack! My brother said he was the same at practice also, very high intensity.

    Re: Tom Perticone

Thanks for sharing! He was a guy who really could set the tone for the defense back in the. day. One of the strongest guys on the team (a very good team) if I recall.

    Sorry to hear about that

    Re: Tom Perticone

I was there that day...but was very young. I think that was my first WOW!!! moment as a Cyclone fan. The helmet went flying, bells were rung, and Lott had a holy crap look on his stunned face. Perticone was a huge hitter...and that was a great team. I'd love to see some updates on how some of those players are doing these days...especially Stanley and Hardeman, our two awesome QB's from that team.

Really saddens me that he passed away.

I was a friend of Tom Boskey, after he graduated and started selling feminine hygiene products for P & G in the Des Moines market. Was hard to believe a tough football player was selling Tampax, but he did. Remember he moved to the southern states as his wife was a swimming coach as I recall. Great guy and a great CYCLONE. Last i heard, he was in Sioux Falls, working for john Morrell

    Re: Tom Perticone

We should really due something to honer the 76 team before it get's away. It may have already been done, but I can't remember off the top of my head. Aside from the bowl shaft, one the greatest teams in ISU history.

I would love to see video or pictures if anyone can find something, as I was not yet born at the time.

Someone make sure John Walters knows of his passing. They should run something on the video board at the first game in his honor.

Thanks for the kind words Jon. Nice to see you keep in touch with some of your old rivals. I remember watching you and Mark Fetter on some of the great South Tama teams of the 70's. Sad sad news about Tom Perticone, one of the great Cyclone hitters of all time.
