She'll be wearing No. 11. All the best for her. She's leaving for Seattle today per BF's and Coach Steyer's twitter

Re: Alison Lacey as a Storm

my aunt works for the WNBA and supposedly the rosters this year are going from 13 to 11 spots plus there is 1 less team in the league now so roster spots are going to be in great competition this season. Seattle has 19 on their camp roster right now so unless Lindsey really impresses she probably won't make the cut.

My aunt also keeps tabs with former Cyclone Brittany Wilkins who has had some stints in the WNBA. Said she enjoys playing overseas and all the expiriences involved with that and that she's probably a longshot to stick in the WNBA again but may get a look in someone's camp possibly. Part of the problem with our ISU ladies being able to play in the WNBA is they fit our system perfectly but they lack the athleticism that is required to play in the WNBA. Allison probably fits that mold better than any player we've had being a tall PG with some altheticism and can create her own shot off the dribble. For instance Angie Welle had the size but not the strength and athleticism to be able to compete against the post players in that league which is why she got cut in camp when she got drafted.

Thanks for the insight. I concurr that most of ISU ladies' problems are they tend to have much more "finesse" than "athletic" aspects. I hope the fact that Lacey was drafted in the 1st round, shows that the Storm appreciates her and is willing to invest in her development.

I have a feeling Aus will be fine, she fits a need they have and I have a hard time believing a #10 draft pick couldn't make the team. The others like Wilson and Ezell are going to have a good showing in training camp to have any kind of shot at making a roster though. It's a tough league to get into unless you are an elite player at that level.

Aus is the first real sign of how BF is transforming this team to a more athletic one.

I think Aus pretty much fell into his lap, being a foreign exchange student. I love Aus, likely my favorite WBB player of all time, but I don't think BF is really trending in that direction much. Who else on the roster fits that mold?

    STORM: Storm Roster
I'll have to say I think that is the first sports roster for women that I have seen that lists weights. I have pretty much believed all women lie about their weight and all men lie about their height. This might make me rethink that.

Thought I should add an edit that if Lauren Jackson is 6-5 and really a 185 pounds than she is the hottest 185 pound gal on the planet.

I agree this was pretty much happenstance with Aus. She just happened to end up playing one year in a high school within stones throw of Ames.

Last years recruits do include some athletic gals, Pop and Jess are athletic. Not sure about the incoming kids.

Alison running speed was pretty good but not a track star.

    A little off topic...

Incoming recruits are pretty much in the same mold, good but not with great speed.

Harris is a commanding player on the floor leading her team (ranked nationally in the top ten) to defeat teams ranked 2 or 3 in the nation. Yet she is considered a step slower than the elites -- yet winning! with deft and 3-point sharp shooting. Her court awareness and skill should translate well into Bill's system.

Hallie Chistofferson threw discus in 11th grade and may be again this Spring. Running was not listed in her resume. She is a dynamic player in my mind an Ashley Sweat type. She is listed in the top 60 players in the country by one or two graders.

I haven't read anything about Mansfield to indicate her speed but she is impressive none-the-less and even further from home than Lacey.
