How Many Games Must GC Win For You To Remain As Positive As Now

I would call our overall optimism for the program right now at close to an all time high.

I'm wondering how many wins will it take next year for people to remain as positive about Chizik and the future as they are now.

For myself I would say 4. Three or less and there will probably be some doubts.

I would say 5. In my opinion, if Gene can't do much better than the disaster that happened last year, people will at least wonder if he can do it (until the following season arrives...).

1, Maybe 2....he NEEDS to beat Iowa...UNI is a bonus..

I'm not saying he should only win 1 or 2, he should make it to a bowl. But, for people to stay positive...all it's going to take is beating Iowa

After last season, I just want to see overall improvement in the team.

I disagree strongly. If we go 1 and 11 with just the one win over iowa, I will not be impressed -- and neither will the vast majority of other cyclone fans.

We are about more than just beating the hawkeyes.

Given what I expect to be the sorry state of our lines my expectations are not very high for next year. Four wins is probably realistic given our talent level. Less would be underachieving, and 6 would be overachieving. I would like to see us play to win instead of playing not to lose though.

I look at it this way, if McCarney was still our coach I would expect him to win about 4 games next year. That of course is based on low expectations of him which pretty much always came true. Since we supposedly have stepped up in our coaching, if GC can win at least 6 (2 extra wins that I would expect Mac to blow), then I will remain as positive as now.

I am gonna give him a mulligan for this year. This isn't his team, yet. He inherited a team with lots of wholes and only had a short amount of time to patch. I would be happy with 2 wins AND no more blowouts.
Honestly, I would trade a win over Iowa for a win over Texas.

UNI is a bonus??? Kidding right? Texas or Oklahoma is a bonus... if beating UNI is ever a bonus to an ISU's season, well I wont go there.

Agree, mulligan this year. IMO, I'm looking at positive improvement throughout the year and that is not entirely based on W-L's. If we only win 3 games but are very competitive in 90% of the games, that is ok. If we win 5 but get blown out in 5-6 games, I'll be a little disappointed.
Realistically, if we win 5-6 and are competitive in most other games, I'll consider it an extremely successful year.

4 - UNI, Kent State, Colorado and Iowa(can't you just feel it)

6-6 would be a GREAT year. People need to remember that it takes time to build football teams. We will be a much better team than last year but the record wont show it. The schedule is just too hard. If we had the 04 or 05 schedule I think we could be a bowl team. We will be more physical, more disipliced and better coached but that can only take you so far.

I wont be the least bit suprised if we give Texas or OU a game though (Especially Texas). I highly doubt we would win though.

I think the most important thing is being competitive in every game and not rolling over in the second half. Hopefully that was the coach's fault last year, but matching last years win's,IMO, would make next year a success in GC's first season.

I think a bowl game, even a lower tier bowl game, will result in even greater momentum behind this program.

Come on guys, the Cheez was brought in for a reason. I think having a strong personallity that Pollard has I dont think he will be very happy with a 3-4 win season. We have all of the tools to be a bowl team this year, and also contend for the North Title this year... Jesus, u guys are happy with a 3-4 win season??? No wonder why when people think of ISU they think of the little brother who everyone likes, but never wins... We cannot be f&#*ing happy with a 3-4 win season!!! Get ahold of yourselves!!! Im sick of ISU being known as losers!!!!

There are eight games next year that are more important to me than the Iowa game, the Iowa game being the most important non-conference game.
