Trying to find the silver lining in all this

I'm usually optimistic, but this is all harder than Mongolian Calculus. The best I can come up with:

    1. All the open scholarships will act to help reduce the overall athletic department budget. Since the vast majority of these kids are from out of state, we'll be saving on out of state tuition, which makes a difference.

    2. There's a good chance that I will be able to score some Arena Circle tickets for the upcoming conference season. The last time I sat down there after December was back in the old "rotating ticket locations" days of student season tickets.

    3. (This is meant to be both sarcastic AND observant) I wonder if the plan by JP and GMac is to weed out the "frontrunners" in the ISU fanbase. After all, if you don't win on a regular basis, you probably will drive away any fans who desire a winning MBB program. Once the fanbase has been selectively reduced, they will be easier to deal with during future controversies.

    4. Once again, we're at the point where only a moron would buy FULL SESSION Big 12 tourney tickets. I'll be able to save money by simply scalping first-round tickets, then finding other attractions in the KC area for the remainder of the weekend. After all, marinating your liver in booze & BBQ sauce is probably better for your physical & mental health than sitting through more GMac-style basketball.

oh yeah, like I even HAD to use this......

Re: Trying to find the silver lining in all this

I would argue that point number four is incorrect.

Watching KSU, OSU, Texas, Baylor, OU in the Big 12 tournament was the only good basketball I saw all last year.

I am banking on going to the Big 12s next year to remind myself how good basketball is played. Im certainly not going to see it in Ames.

Oh, well, that explains it. Thanks?

Also. Arthur Bryant's is a completely valid reason to go to KC.

The line to get a Walking Taco will be short.

After next year in KC with our "local" fan support, the Big 12 tournament reverts back down to the South which is a much longer trek for our fans. We may not see a Big 12 tournament win under the current staff.

Nah. What business would an Asian pirate have in a country that's 90% desert?

I gave up caring that ISU would win. It was more fun meeting the Baylor and OSU players down there and watching the other games of the tourny than anything that had to do with ISU hoops.
