    Best Place You've Ever Lived

We had a worst place thread. What's the best?

In Iowa, I'd say Davenport. I really like the feel of that town. I'm a big river guy, a big hiking guy, so Eastern Iowa is great for me.

    Overall, I'd say New York.

Re: Best Place You've Ever Lived

I've lived many places over my lifetime. I didn't respond to the worst place thread because I find the positive in every place I live.

Anyway, the best place I've lived would have to be Shanghai, China. That was a fun three years. You could have anything you want. If I wanted a cheap meal, I could have it, if I wanted to spend a month's worth of pay on a meal, I could. You could find whatever you wanted. It was fantastic.

Here is the top 5 places I have lived:
    1. Shanghai, China
    2. Ames, IA - born and raised, always holds a special place in my heart
    3. Vargon, Sweden - Lived there for a year. Loved everything about Sweden, loved the people, the food, everything.
    4. Billings, Montana - I never thought a place could be slower than Iowa (in a positive way), but Montana has to compete.
    5. Dauphin, Manitoba - 2 indoor ice rinks, 6 outdoor ice rinks and only a population of 8,000. Only thing to do in this town was play hockey and ice fish.

Quite right: no one is going to be able to top that ridiculous assertion...

Park Slope, Brooklyn Strollers and leashes match my small town roots better than hipsters...

I really like Kansas City, I really liked Denver, but I'd have to say Ames will always be my favorite.

I would live there in a heartbeat if my business life would take me there.

    3. Ames, Iowa
    4. Cedar Rapids, Iowa

I have also lived in Aurora, Colorado but was too young to really remember it but it would probably fall either second or third if I could.

Re: Best Place You've Ever Lived

215 1/2 Lynn Avenue, right behind the "It's OK" house...Ames, IA. If you were in Ames between '97 and '00, chances are you were there at least once.

They bulldozed the poor place sometime in '02 or '03 I think. Shame...but they can't take away the memories. Although I'm probably missing some due to the slow gas leak. Never slept better in my whole life
