    Suit

I need to buy a suit today. I need one for a business meeting next week. Anyone have any recommendations? I don't want to buy just a name on a label nor do I want to buy the cheapest suit on the market.

Has anyone bought from Men's Warehouse? Their prices are low but are the suits any good?

I'll need a quick turn around on alterations as well.

    Thanks!

    Re: Suit

Try Joseph A Bank. It's middle of the road material but you can get a solid blue suit and a black suit for $400 with tailoring.

It's definitely not the best, but not the worst material either.

They have nice selection. I'm not sure if they have cheaper brands but they do have a backroom store in Beaverdale with lower priced suits if the store on 86th doesn't have what you're looking for.

    Re: Suit

At your age you are going to need a suit anyway so don't crimp. Get yourself a decent suit at one of the places above (Mr. Bs/Dillards). Do not, I repeat do not go to Men's Warehouse, there is a reason their suits are so inexpensive. I have heard a couple of MW suit stories and I don't think this is what you want.

You can find good deals there at times. I have never gotten a suit at BR but have gotten a lot of other clothing items. If you wait for the sales you can actually get some nice deals

They had some 40% off coupons last month that my wife got. Thought it would be a good time to get a new suit.

NICE. Me and my wife went a couple days after XMas. They had 40% off the already on sale price. I got so much clothes. I went home and did the math. Got $1150 worth of close for $375. It was ridiculous

    Re: Suit

Definitely try looking at Younkers (Valley West is the only Younkers in Iowa with tailored suits). They've got some clearance stuff right now ($149 b/4 coupon) that is good quality. Saw an Austin Reed suit the other day in that price range. Stay away from labels that have products in every retail line (i.e. Calvin Klein, Kenneth Cole), they generally don't make good men's products (I use to sell the stuff, I know). Steve Madden sucks, too, just an FYI.

    Upper end suit:
Hart Schaffner-Marx (made in the USA) $450-$650 (on sale)
    Joseph Aboud

    Middle-Upper end:
Austin Reed (made in Canada, owned by Hart Schaffner-Marx) $350-$550 (on sale)
Lauren (Ralph Lauren) $350-$550 (on sale)
    Jos.A.Bank label

    Middle-Good suit:
Albert Nipon (made all over): $300-$350 (on sale. if you don't plan on wearing it all the time, but every now and again for special events or more dress up days at work, this is probably the best deal).

These are just some suggestions. They may even be cheaper than these prices too at Younkers. They've always got pretty cheap prices (Von Maur sells a lot of the same brands Younkers does, but they don't have sales like Younkers).

I'm willing to spend about $400.

I've always liked Ralph Lauren products. I'm tall and thin and they tend to have sizes that fit me. As I stated before, though, I'd like to avoid simply paying for the name on the Label and I believe with the RL line, I might be adding cost for just the name.

Thanks for the advice so far. I think I'll start are Valley West Younkers and then try Dillards. If none there, I'll check out Mr. Bs.

    Re: Suit

I bought 2 suits from the Men's Wearhouse this winter. Good prices, big selection and I was happy with how the 2 I bought looked. Not sure how quickly they can get alterations done, mine took about a week I think but I was not in a hurry to get them either.
