    Brad Stevens

Was wondering what people thought of Brad Stevens, would he make a good coach at ISU? With everything that went down with Lick at Iowa, would Stevens be too much of a risk? I don't think so, the kid can coach and knows how to take ok talent and make it better. He makes his players play as a team, we have not seen that since the LE days. Also Stevens can coach defense something else we have not seen since LE. Fundamentals, we have none, he teaches them. Would be a great choice after next season (he won't leave now and we won't fire McDermott now).

Stevens would be great at ISU.... but given what happened to Lickliter upon leaving, and the fact he can have his choice of much higher profile programs, it would make ZERO sense for him to come here.

    Re: Brad Stevens

HAHAHAHA yeah he would leave a team with a history like Butler... whom he just had in the NCAA championship game to come to ISU. Get real.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Brad Stevens

He just signed a 200 year contract. I'm sure there is a buy out as well. He made 750,000 last year so the extension has to be at least that much. Lets see I can continue to coach at Butler with a potential national championship talent base, orrr I can go to ISU where there are no division 1 players and were using walk ons??

    Re: Brad Stevens

Stevens made $750k before his huge raise/contract extension. My guess is that he makes over $1 mil per year and he has a 12 year contract. We couldn't afford him in our wildest dreams. Plus, I don't think he leaves there...especially for Iowa State.

Lick isn't the only coach who failed to bring his success at Butler with him to the next level. Barry Collier had issues with recruiting, chemistry, and game management at Nebraska. Stevens appears to be the best of the 3, but he will probably have to show that he can maintain his success with new faces after he turns his roster over a time or two.

My guess is that he only leaves there for a top 10 program.

    Duke, UNC, Michigan State, etc.

    Re: Brad Stevens

We apparently don't have the money to buy out our current lame duck coach, let alone afford a good up and coming coach like Stevens!!

I'm sure they have more wins in the NCAA tournament than us. They're proven winners, recently. They pay him as much as we could afford... and he's already winning there. Why in the hell would he leave there to come to ISU?

This. The guy will be at Butler next season because he has talent returning. They very well could make another run and then Stevens stock will really soar. He will bail on them after next season for a high profile job and a bank vault of cash.

As a fan of Iowa State I will no longer watch GMAC go Jack Kevorkian on the Men's basketball program. My faith in JP as the leader of Cyclone Athletics has been severely shaken by his lack of action in this matter. The so called "Cornerstone" of Cyclone Athletics in JP's own words is a program in major decline and for him to sit by and watch it happen is unconscionable.
