I had an aunt who rode one of these things for cheap. She said it was a horrible experience. It stops at every little town and they stops aren't quick.

Unless I was severely low on money and didn't have another way to get there I would rather drive myself or fly somewhere than spend at least 3-4 times longer getting there while sitting on a bus with random people.

That was probably greyhound those do stop like very 30 mins. This looks like it only stops in des moines, iowa city and chicago. Could be wrong tho.

Well seeing that they claim that it will only be a 6 hour bus trip from Des Moines to Chicago, I kinda think that they are going straight there. Might be wrong, but the only places that you can get to from Des Moines through this bus company is Iowa City and Chicago.

Where is the catch? It seems as though there would be no way they could make money? Are the subsidized by the City of Chicago or something as a way to bring in tourists? I don't get it.

According to the website they are double decker busess so they are trying to cram more people in to bring the cost down.

    Re: Megasbus

Experience varies. I have travelled megabus on luxury buses- internet, lazy boy style recliners, big screen tv's etc on buses. I've also travelled on their greyhound like buses.

I've had buses stopping at every town, every 20 miles. I've also travelled non stop 4-5 hours on their buses.

Or a bad SyFy channel movie. Megabus vs MegaShark

They say country music speaks to the heart. Unfortunately, it has to go through your ears to get there.

    Re: Megasbus

It's cheaper the further out you purchase from departure. The closer it gets, the more expensive prices get as the bus fills.

Even then, if you ordered day of, it's still cheaper than the alternatives.

Coming home from Chicago last weekend I almost missed the train and would have just rode up on the Megabus.
