    Chizik just on M&M 1460

    Some interesting things.

    1. I believe he was talking about Rubin when he said that Tuba gives them a chance to have a defensive line this year.
    2. Kurtis Taylor. An effort guy, good spring, fights hard.
    3. Blythe, will always be double teamed, they have to find a guy on the other side that can go deep to take some pressure off.
    4. Oline. After 15 practices, still needs bunch of work (my words). Can't drop back 40 times a game and throw with this group. Have to have variety in run pass game to take pressure off Oline.
    5. Meyer vs. Arnaud. Meyer understands that if he's not doing the job, someone else will get the chance. If one guy handles certain things well and another guy handles different things well, would platoon.

    This is my paraphrasing.

It was a good listen. M&M did a nice job.

Wallace Franklin. Football's like a one-man cold to Wallace Franklin. Wallace Franklin's the only man catchin' it, Wallace Franklin's the only man comin' down wid it.

Plus, here is a Cyclone JUCO with Wallace as a part of his name. That can't suck.

What is it with this guy that everyone thinks he's going to be a stud? This is an honest question but what has he done to impress everyone? Some people on here make it sound like we're going to have 2 Todd Blythe's lining up on Saturdays. Wouldn't that be sweet!!!

Wallace= Speed Kills. If he can catch, with his speed we won't have two Todd's but we will keep defense honest and make scheme to take Todd out of game very difficult and risky.

Sumrall will have a good year. Hes definately more explosive than Jon Davis and Flynn, so itll be interesting to se how they use everyone. I think Blythe will need to become the possession receiver of the group with the occasional lob downfield. And have Franklin and Sumrall running slants, and screens to use their speed so they can break short passes for big plays.

Re: Chizik just on M&M 1460

Yeah, when you throw Sumrall in that mix, who looked very sharp in the spring game, that's a nice trio. Moses, Hamilton and Messiah are not bad options either.

    If, and I say if...

    - Franklin is what he's cracked up to be
    - Sumrall can do the things we've seen in the past and the spring game consistantly
    - Moses stays healthy and looks like the guy we saw in final games of '06
    - Hamilton starts to be come the guy he was hyped up to be
    - Messiah and Jones continue to improve and provide a little help now and then

We'll have a better receiving corps in '07, even with the losses of Flynn and Davis. And we don't even need all of those items listed above to happen. I think a good Franklin and Sumrall would do it.

Agree. Sumrall really looked good. If I recall the only question mark on Wallace is making sure he qualifies. If he does it will be our best receiving core since, gosh, I can't remember a better one.

I hope to god that Chizik and co. are willing to utilize guys' skills in a variety of ways rather than just taking the MacBarney approach of bending guys' skills to a system and watching it fail Saturday after Saturday.

Re: Chizik just on M&M 1460

    Blythe - 6'5"
    Franklin - 6'3"
    Hamilton - 6'4"
    Moses - 6'3"

Look at that size. Tell me what team has enough DB's to cover those guys and match up well enough to stop an assault of jump balls.

Sumrall is short, but I think he can jump and get just as "tall" as the other guys. Anyone recall a couple of his catches from '05 (I think the Iowa game stands out) where he touched the sky?

Maybe we don't need blocking up front. Just line up in the gun, 15 yards back and let Bret just toss it up to someone.

Look at that size (seriously, someone look it up and give us the heights).
    Blythe's 6'5", Franklin is 6'3", Hamilton is 6'4" or 6'5", and Moses is 6'3".

Just checked out Wallace's myspace page. Dude is skinny. Like Dave Chappelle skinny. He had better run fast.

He does look pretty thin. I prefer Craig Brackin's myspace more.
