    Re: NFL Draft news

National Football Post - Michael Lombardi of the National Football Post writes that the Bills may not be interested in Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen.

Instead, Buffalo may prefer a more athletic quarterback.

"In fact, someone told me that Chan Gailey, while he was offensive coordinator in Miami, was not in favor of Drew Brees as a potential pick because he had Ray Lucas on the roster," Lombardi wrote.

"Keep in mind, Gailey has always loved athletic players as evidenced by his style of recruiting while head coach at Georgia Tech

Ray Lucas over Drew Brees. Don't put that one on your resume Mr. Gailey

    Re: NFL Draft news

Speaking on who he believed the Chiefs would be taking in the first round of this year’s draft, Mel Kiper said, "You hear Bryan Bulaga, you hear Trent Williams. I still go with the safety, Eric Berry."

    Re: NFL Draft news

I would love Eric Berry but the smart move is to take a OT move Albert out to RT or LG than you will have an OL of
1st round pick, Waters, Weigmann, Lilja and Albert with Ryan Ocallahan as the main back up at both guard and tackle.

    Re: NFL Draft news

Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reports that an unnamed (for now) Pro Bowl running back is on the trading block.

Robinson (via Twitter) says that he knows the name of the tailback and the teams involved. He says he'll reveal the player soon, that it won't be shocking, and that it's not Cowboys tailback Marion Barber.

In 2009, the Pro Bowl running backs were Chris Johnson, Maurice Jones-Drew, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, DeAngelo Williams, and Frank Gore.

In 2008, they were Thomas Jones, Johnson, Ronnie Brown, Marshawn Lynch, Peterson, Clinton Portis, and Michael Turner.

In 2007, they were LaDainian Tomlinson, Joseph Addai, Fred Taylor, Willie Parker,Willis McGahee, Peterson, Barber, and Brian Westbrook.

Who do you think it is?

I think its Portis, I heard somewhere about Wash trying to dump Haynesworth and how they may use Portis in the deal.

Well I've read where Potis could be in a deal with Haynesworth I've also read where Lynch wants out of Buffalo. Could be an interesting couple of weeks with this running back talk

There was talk about the Skins dealing Haynesworth, but on Friday they said that they would keep him. I could see the team dealing Portis, as they have picked up Willie Parker and Larry Johnson.

    Re: NFL Draft news

I really believe that the Lions are going to take Okung at #2. They may love Suh, but they need to protect the franchise in Stafford. That means that McCoy is probably going to drop to the Redskins and that's why they are shopping Haynesworth. Berry would be a good pick by the Chiefs. If they don't take him, it's between Trent Williams and Bulaga. Of course, with Weis on staff as OC, they could very well pick Jimmy Clausen.

I was raised on Notre Dame football. I make trips to South Bend to go to games. I cry while watching Rudy.
But if the Chiefs take Jimmy Clausen at 5 i might punch my dog.

    Re: NFL Draft news

Lions coach Jim Schwartz uses a theory about drafting defensive tackles called the ‘Planet Theory’.

What is the planet theory you ask? According to Schwartz, it’s "big, giant men that run fast? That are strong enough to play the run and athletic enough to play the pass? ... There's not many people like that walking the planet." Since there is a scarcity of these types of individuals, they justify such a high pick. Whatever theory they use, expect Nebraska's DT Ndamukong Suh off the board at number two this year.

Lions traded with the Seahawks last week for a starting G. With the G position taken care of for now they will not take Okung at 2 unless they trade Backus (not very likely to happen).

Suh will be the pick unless someone blows them away with a trade
