    Dino Gaudio

Now IF ole mcdermott was fired .....could Dino Gaudio come to isu?? I mean the guy coached at Wake Forest and he had a top ten recruiting class coming in. I read a little about him and people praised his leadership when he took over suddenly because the previous coach died of a heart attack. I know I would welcome him with open arms.

    Re: Dino Gaudio

Financially, we can't buyout a decent mid-major coach. We are limited to an assistant or a head coach out of a job. This is just my opinion.

Dino Gaudio would be a good fit, if he was willing to come here.

He could recruit, but he couldnt' coach. Tons of tallent and they didn't know what they were doing. Be a great name, but that's about it.

Remember, he was an assistant at Wake and took over when their coached passed away.

How can we not...there has been no report about what kind financial trouble this progam is in...why do people go around saying "oh we can't do anything because we don't have the money to do anything this year?"...which this move only deteriorates fan support, which ultimately leads to dwindling ticket sales....which leads Hilton to become Carver West....

    Re: Dino Gaudio

All I saw about his firing was just what came across the bottom line on ESPN. What reasons were given for him getting fired? It seemed like he did a pretty good job.

As far as I know no real good reason given.

    Re: Dino Gaudio

I don't trust Dino but a lot of that is because of his head coaching record at his first two stops. He did a good job at Wake so maybe he learned from his mistakes. Skip Prosser struggled his last 2 years so who knows, maybe Dino is solid. He'd be an upgrade over McDermott, but so would Elmer Fudd.

Lack of postseason success. Was 1-5 with sole win this year vs. Texas. Really underachieved with a lot of talent.

    I Smell Something Bad

I know that when Dino was fired the AD mentioned the issue being his poor post season records. IMO there has to be something more. An AD doesn't fire a coach based on his poor performance in 6 games when he won 60% of his other 90 games.

Ahh...some of us long for the "good ol' days" under WM where we had winning records, made the post season, won in the post season and all we had to complain about was "underachieving".

Give me a 20-10 underachieving team over a 14-16 overachieving team every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

You do realize that some schools have higher expectations than just making the post season...right????

Gaudio rebuilt the program, starting out 17-13, then went 24-7 and 20-11, even getting Wake to #1 in both polls in the winter of 2009.
If AD Wellman is going to fire him for not doing well in the NCAA's, for his sake he'd better hit a big home run for a successor.

    Re: Dino Gaudio

One of my good friends is a Wake alum and according to him, Dino is an amazing recruiter but couldn't coach his way out of a paper bag...

I'll take him! To lack postseason success one must first make......postseason. I'll take that kind of underachieving right about now.
