    Pine tree help

Just wondering if anyone here knows much about Pine trees. I have 3 Eastern White pines that I put in 2 years ago. They are about 10 ft tall now. Two of them are darker green, putting on cones, and needle buds are already twice as big as the other tree.

Although they are planted in the same region of the yard, I am wondering if could be a PH issue - ie: dogs peeing on it. There is some rusty tips on the tree in question as well.

    Re: Pine tree help

Despite having 10 evergreen trees taking over my back yard (it is amazing how much they have grown in the 5 1/2 years since I moved in) I'm afraid I am not much help on your problem.

I had the weight of the snow break three big branches on one of mine so I will now have a big dead spot on it. Have you had any problems like this?

If it is just near the bottom where it could be from the dog that would be my guess. If it is the entire tree it could just be stressed out a bit more than the others, perhaps didn't take the winter as well. Is the tree in question on the north side of the others?

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Pine tree help

Could be something environmental. They tend to be sensitive to environmental damage- salt, other chemicals.... They also prefer well-drained soil. Since you just planted it 2 years ago, I would check to make sure it is planted at the right depth, the roots aren't circling the trunk, and the trunk isn't damaged.
