Is anyone expecting ISU to be a big golf powerhouse?

Also do they really not use veenker as their home course?

There is a slight difference between a powerhouse and 61 strokes behind the lead, and 14 back of the second to last team.

They have to pay to use the Veenker facilities, just like everyone else. That gets expensive. Plus, ISU hasn't hosted a golf event since the 2001 women's Big 12, and that was at the Harvester.

I guess I would expect a little more competitiveness from 1 senior and 3 juniors. On the positive side, the best score came from a freshman.

And does anyone really care? What if they were all blind and would have lost by 1000 strokes? No difference...

It won't be a popular opinion here, but I could really care less about any sports other than the big mens sports and womens bball. It really would not bother me much if ISU never won in golf or swimming or tennis. I am all for schools just cutting all non revenue sports so we can have a better funded football program.

Those scores across the board are pretty terrible. A 300 is just an average of 75 which isnt spectacular at that level. The course or conditions must be pretty tough. Still 61 strokes off the lead is a **** poor effort.

Well, if ISU were to cut all the non-revenue sports, ISU would be kicked out of the NCAA, since sponsorship of a certain number of sports is required for membership, and there wouldn't be much point in having better-funded football, MBB and WBB programs.

Now, in the NAIA, there are no requirements for varsity sports sponsorship...

Women's golf is a great sport, its cheap! How much can balls and tees cost?

Yeah, that's a given, all teams have to travel. Not sure they need to send the golf team to Hawaii though..

I did take one positive out of the final results, however. Texas finally sucks at a warm-weather sport.
