What are you talking about? Dempster and Wells were both fantastic, Marmol looked fine tonight, and Marshall hasn't even allowed a baserunner yet.

Monday was giant pants ******** by the whole team, but the pitching the last two games has been pretty good. Except for Grabow.

Agreed. In the last two games, starting pitching has only allowed one run. I still think Z will be alright. I'm not even ready to throw Grabow under the bus quite yet.

I didnt get to see yesterdays game, and Wells and Marshall are amazing. But Marmol still scares me. Its early and batters are always ahead of pitchers so I just hope the relief get a little sharper.

I'm REALLY excited about the potential of Caridad setting up and Marmol closing. That could be nasty.

Marmol scares everyone, but going into it knowing that you're going to be yelling at the TV should make things easier. For some reason I find it easier to deal with Marmol and his occasional meltdowns than I do Randy Wells throwing breaking balls to Tommy Hanson.

I happen to think that Wells and Lilly are the most consistent pitchers on the staff. They don't get too rattled in tense situations, and you saw that with Wells tonight after he missed Theriot at second to load the bases. That would have turned out a lot differently (read:worse) with someone like Zambrano out there.

Maybe its just me not getting excited just to be let down, like every year.

    +1

or Grabow throwing a 2-0 BP fastball to Chipper Jones.

In this way regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

Thankfully, I was watching season three of Mad Men when that happened.

I can't believe they had Z open the season, I wouldn't trade him for anything in the world, but he is just too amped up I think for opening day. Would much rather have had Dempster pitch first. Same with the playoffs, no first game for him, 2nd game fine, just needs to not have the extra excitement surrounding him.

Glad the Cubs pulled it out tonight, won back quite a few credits that the horse race took from me today.

If Marmol can keep throwing strikes and controlling that cutter he will be all right. Heyward's at bat was EMBARRASSING.

I think the Cubs pitching will be just fine, especially in beginning in a few weeks after the pitcher's are in good enough shape to go 8 innings. Our middle relief is a bit suspect, but I whenever they are in a position for a starter to hand the ball to Marmol, or maybe even an inning out of Marshall or Caridad. Get Lilly healthy...we will be fine.

I thought Ron Santo was going to have a heart attack last night. He sure gets wound up (which is why I like listening to him and Pat).
