In case you've forgotten, April 16th is a very important date for both Lenny Dykstra (income tax deadline) and fans of indoor football. It's opening day for the new, improved Arena Football League, which has been in mothballs for almost two years but is now back with 15 teams and an attitude. And to prove that they're serious this time, the league's second-oldest franchise, the Arizona Rattlers, thought it would be a good idea to assure themselves a sellout for their home opener. Their genius plan: Give away every ticket for free. Yep.
It's believed to be the first time in pro sports history that every person will be attending a game gratis. A beer, however, will cost $70.
Official Arfizona Rattlers site:
The Arizona Rattlers will be giving away every ticket for every seat in the house for its 2010 home opener against the Chicago Rush on Friday, April 16. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m. at the USAirways Center in Phoenix.
Also please note that if you have received tickets for the Chicago game that show the date as April 17th, those are still valid and will be accepted for the game on Friday, April 16th. The date change was made to accommodate the playoff-bound Phoenix Suns.
