Re: Airline Considers Fee For Lavatory Use

    From the article:

Ryanair, which is based in Dublin, Ireland, and bills itself as "Europe's first and largest low fares airline," is mulling a plan that would require travelers to pay either 1 euro or 1 British pound (about $1.33 or $1.52) for using the bathroom on flights lasting one hour or less.
Does not make it any less ridiculous but it is not like you are being charged to use the bathroom on a trans-atlantic flight.

Well, I guess if you refuse to pay for the drinks, you have no need to pay for the restroom...

You do realize there was a time when you got two pieces of checked luggage plus a carry-on or two free of charge? Then you got the one piece of checked luggage for free, then you were paying for all checked luggage. Now there are some airlines that are making you pay for all luggage regardless of whether it's carried on or checked (that story has been playing on HLN all day). Same can be said with drinks, snacks, pillows, blankets, etc.

The fact that it is just for flights under an hour is just the start. First their competitors will think this is a great idea and adopt the policy, and then the length of the flight will begin getting longer. Just the rule of thumb for the airline industry...

Looks like they'll have to change the term barf-bag to barf/crap/pee-bag

This will stand until people start going to the back of the plane and urinating in a corner.

I also saw that one of the airlines today is going to start charging $45 for a carry-on. One of the smaller airlines. Crazy

What's wrong with using one of the many restrooms in the terminal prior to boarding?

Re: Airline Considers Fee For Lavatory Use

I'd rather they just include all these fees in the price of the ticket. At least that way I don't feel like I'm getting nickeled and dimed as much. Seriously though, charging to go to the bathroom is probably going to get them a lawsuit because I can see it being a health or safety issue if you aren't allowed to use it freely. I'd just use my beverage cup to pee in if this ever does happen then hand it back to the flight attendant when I'm finished.

Well you have to factor in some people may not be feeling 100% or have weak blatters or something. Just think if you had a touch of diarehea, they'd have dollar signs in their eyes when you get up every 10-15 minutes to use the restroom.
