Spring Football: Bill Bleil on the OL

Here is an interview with offensive line coach Bill Bleil from today after practice. Sounds like the line will be better next season. I'll have stuff from Ben Lamaak, Brayden Burris and KO later on this week.

good read, Chris. It's awesome to hear the confidence that the coaches have in the line. That's where it all starts. Our offense has a chance to be really special, this year. I think we're going to see huge improvements.

KO is still tipping the scales at 330 but has only 13% body fat.... thats incredible for a 330 pound man. KO is STRONG

Does he think that Burris will be anywhere near 300 next year?

One of the drills they were working saturday looked like they were focusing on open-field blocking. As a coach of the spread and a big fan of OL getting to the next level, I was excited.

We moved Scott (Haughton) down to guard, which has really helped him. He is really playing well at guard. He has got a guard body type. Hes played comfortably well down there.
These coaches don't know what they're doing. Moving Haughton to guard eliminates the ever so deadly lateral to the tackle play.

I get the joke, but you could still do that with Haughton at guard, no? I mean, it is a lateral.

The Burris pick up a few years ago was a really good move. He was a guy that Prince asked to grey shirt after KSU signed 35 guys in a class.

Yeah probably not that good if he was at 30 percent body fat to begin with.

Seriously, I agree with you cycloneman003, the kid is strong. Nice to see the strenghth program paying off for these guys.

Yes, but good luck executing it.

The beauty of the play against Mizzou last year is it really amounted to a more misdirected TE screen as Haughton was uncovered on the line and all he had to do was sell a missed block to a rusher.

Pulling him from a guard spot for a lateral? Good luck.
