    WBB Calendar---Why Not?

I think that would be a big seller.

Besides the pervy aspect of it, it's very much against NCAA rules.

Don't the cheerleaders sell a calendar every year? Or are they not an NCAA sanctioned thing?

Didn't Steve Alford get into a little bit of trouble because he was in an Indiana University calendar? I think it was for a good cause but was in violation of NCAA rules.

    Cheerleaders aren't student-athletes.

You can't sell anything with the likeness of a current student-athlete on it. Even the football-based calendar that came out recently had players who were already gone, and any other player who was in the shot (especially from the opposing team) had his jersey number Photoshopped to 0.

True, YOU can't sell anything but the NCAA certainly can....and do so often!

Any examples other than video games (still an ongoing debate)?

Not an example of that, but a similar situation is the NCAA "paying" football players who play in bowl games. They get gifts worth an amount that is not insignificant. Anyone else does this for a player, they'd get hit with huge sanctions.

I'm pretty sure those were PSA's and not available for sale.

Not a calendar, but up on the wall I have a framed photo of the ISU women's team holding a car wash. This was from several years ago, but no one will let me take it down.

Sounds like you want to get rid of it. Mail it to me.

Have never seen any trading cards sold.

Broadcast rights for an event or a tournament are nowhere close to the same thing as calendars and other promotional materials.

I have. When I was young and stupid, I was a Hawkeye fan and got a set of Iowa football cards. I don't know if they still do it and I don't know who is responsible for them.
