    New Prospects

I see on Scout we got three 4 star recruits on our list now, and we're sitting pretty well with them. I'd love to pick up a big time DE. Kinda surprised they're all JC's though.

stars who cares how many stars they have, it means actually nothing to me. I want to see what they do on the field. THEN give them a rating. If you go to a huge football school and you started a 1 star and then decided to go to Texas for example then yoyu get a 3 star or higher. We all know that is what happens. Basically I am saying don't put your hopes in the Star rating.

Tell that to Texas... If we don't want the 4 and 5 star guys i'm sure Tex., Neb., and the rest of the big 12 will gobble them just like they are now. Yes i know we have got some 2 star guys to the NFL, but i guarantee you there are more 4 and 5 star high school recruits that are All Americans and then go to the NFL then there are 2 stars.

    Re: New Prospects

Obviously the star-ranking process isn't perfect, but what else do you suggest as a starting point?

We all want to see them on the field before we analyze them, but I certainly hope ISU isn't waiting until the football season begins to determine which players are worth recruiting......we'd be way behind at that point

    Re: New Prospects

I trust the star system. Sure they miss some but get some right. The fact is look at the big schools that get most of the 5 and 4 star guys. They all play in the National Championship every year.

    Re: New Prospects

I still think the best way to judge a recruit is to see what other school's are recruiting them.
