    Anyone familiar with this? Restaurant.com

I have seen ads for this place on one of the "deals" sites that I monitor. Supposedly, lets you print gift certificates for various restaurants, at greatly reduced prices. You print them on your computer. Some of the prices can be a bit too good to be true. For example, one of my favorite restaurants is Leavenworth Cafe in Omaha. Leavenworth Cafe says "minimum purchase of $100" on restaurant.com, so you could purchase two $50 certificates for $8 (with discount code "CHOW"). That's enough food for 6 people, for $8. Hence, my major skepticism.

Yup. They work great. We use them for Vegas all the time. Dont think there are any in DSM last time the wife looked. Every once in a while they have a half price sale and you get like $25 for $3 or something. Just present them before you order usually, might not matter. Never had a problem with them though.

Groupon.com is another site similar to this. It's pretty much only for big cities but basically it will have one coupon a day that you can spend say 25 bucks for 50 bucks of food. There is a minimum number of people who have to buy it otherwise they just refund your purchase. I assume the model is that the business comes out ahead by bringing in more than enough new business to offset the coupons so it's a win win all around.

Re: Anyone familiar with this? Restaurant.com

I have used them several times and have never had a problem with the restaurant accepting them or any other issues. Just make sure you read the details. You'll probably need to purchase $100 in order to use the $50 coupon. Also, doesn't include alcoholic beverages at most places I've used them. Biggest problem I have is I usually don't save any money because I buy something more expensive than usual.
