    Suit Suggestions

In your opinion, where is the best place to get a nice suit without paying the high price in Des Moines. It's been a while since I've shopped for one so I thought I would get some suggestions before I went out.
    Thanks in advance.

Men's Warehouse has a pretty good selection. Fairly helpful when I went in and got mine.

    Re: Suit Suggestions

There are likely a few, I know several people who like JosA Banks. I have always found some nice deals at Younkers, especially if you arent looking for a certain style or color. The wife got me a nice one for Christmas for $100, was originally $450.

Nothing to see here mods. Keep moving.

    Re: Suit Suggestions

For years I wore a suit everyday to work. The absolute best two places for me were the sale rack Dillards at Jordan Creek adn Younkers and Merle Hay. You wait till they have their supper clearly 50 or 60% off the lowest price weekends that they have 2 or 3 times per year, and buy them. For a $500-$600 suit you could easier pay between $75-$125. Of course I now don't have to wear them and I have a closet full of really nice suits.

I think they charge for alterations, though, don't they? If you don't need any, it's a good place. If you need any alterations, it's worth looking into places with a bit higher initial price, with free alterations.

I have used Jos A here in town. I have also been to a Mens Warehouse, however I liked the service at Jos A better. Mr. B's probably would hook you up if you say you are a CFer.

EXACTLY. Places like Mr. B's are the reason CF is free today. Why not support them or at least give them the opportunity to gain your business?

I don't see why a place like Mr. B's wouldn't be at the top of everyones list.

Yes, at least you can talk Cyclone sports to get you through that uncomfortable "measuring your inseam" moment.

    Re: Suit Suggestions

Mr. B's has a cheaper backroom store over in Beaverdale if low price is a concern. Whatever you do, don't let the salesman talk you into a suit that looks like what Frank Martin wears.

    Re: Suit Suggestions

For the most part you get what you pay for with a suit. If you want quality you can wear for 10 years, go to Mr. B's, Badowers, or one of their related stores. If you want someone to come to your office and sell you the same stuff, call Mike Meline. Great guy with great product. The chain and discount stores sell crap.

    Men's Warehouse or S&K

Mr. Bs was too pricey for me when I was looking to buy some suits. I actually enjoy suit shopping.
