    I Phone/BlackBerry

I need to get a 2nd phone. I currently have a BB from work w/ US Cellular and I love it, but I need to get another personal phone. I am either going to get another blackberry from US Cellular or an I phone from ATT. I am usually only in Des Moines and SW rural IA. I also travel to other small towns around central IA. Any one have any experience w/ an Iphone outside of a city such as DM? Do they get reception?

If its rural, Im not sure AT&T would be a good idea.

This would be my guess. Actually it's probably not that good of an idea in many cities either.

    Re: I Phone/BlackBerry

From a phone perspective i would get the iPhone. I have had blackberry and iPhone, but from a carrier if you are in southern iowa there won't be any 3G service and i would probably go with Verizon

    Re: I Phone/BlackBerry

Is your company telling you that you can't use your phone for personal calls? Just curious why you have to get a 2nd phone.

If your company pays your phone bill and you don't go over your minutes, why would they care if you're using it for personal calls? If you're paying your own phone bill and submitting an expense report for the work-related calls, just itemize out your personal calls and submit an expense report for you work-related charges. Most companies are willing to work with you on this so you can avoid carrying two devices.

    Just my $.02.

    Re: I Phone/BlackBerry

I have an IPhone, if you are travelling quite a bit outside DSM and off major routes - you don't want it. Of course you have your work one (??) for emergencies and such, I suppose. But without 3G, IMO most of the apps are near worthless. Besides the reception issues, I love the phone itself. But I don't travel that much, so rarely have problems.

As for the Verizon bandwagon. I live in West Des Moines and couldn't get Verizon inside my house. If I wanted to use it, I would have to walk to the end of my driveway. Which is obviously a great option in January. Often said I'd love to have that little "can you hear me now" twirp stop by so I could punch him.

So we are in agreement that all cell companies suck.

Get an Android phone on Verizon (i.e. - Motorolla Droid, HTC Eris or, coming soon, Google Nexus One).

Just switched from US Cell to Verizon last night. Everyone in our family got the Motorolla Droid and loving it!

Depending where you're at, SW Iowa doesn't get Verizon service, so you'd be roaming on US Cellular.

Rumor has it, Sprint and Verizon are getting the iPhone sometime this year. Not sure if there's any truth to that or not.

Plenty of truth to the rumor, and just in time for me to spend my birthday money...

Any iPhone rumors to Verizon are garbage in my opinion. We have heard the same rumors for the last 12 months. Until it comes from Steve Jobs mouth, then I don't want to believe it.

I have a Blackberry now through US Cellular but am going to switch to Verizon whenever they get the HTC Incredible.
