    Ambidextrous pitcher

Ambidextrous pitcher throws for Yankees - Baseball- nbcsports.msnbc.com

Seems like a pretty cool skill to have as a reliever.

    Re: Ambidextrous pitcher

he would only be able to pitch left or right during a game not being able to switch up, I asked McClellan this and he stated this to me on his call in show

    Re: Ambidextrous pitcher

I didnt see it in the article, but i remember hearing that he cant switch throwing arms in mid batter. Dont really know that's a rule, but not surprising since it might make boring baseball games a little more exciting,(I do love baseball though).

I'm ALMOST positive he can switch each hitter, but not mid-at-bat

Correct, and for switch hitters, he must declare first.

I think it may be an inning by inning thing, not batter by batter. what if a switch hitting batter came up, would they just go back and forth until one of them conseded to the other?

    Re: Ambidextrous pitcher

What I have been told by the head scout of the Padres and some other higher ranking baseball scouts was that he had to designate prior to each hitter what arm he would be pitching with for that at bat. He would not be able to switch mid at bat, but if he faced a lefty, righty, and lefty he could change for each hitter. That is why he has a glove that can be worn on either hand.

Dont shoot the messenger, but I trust this answer as we had a lengthy discussion about this on a few different occasions.

does he have an ambidextrous glove or do they run one out to him every batter?? I see this making a long baseball game that much longer

    Re: Ambidextrous pitcher

IF this kid has big league stuff with both arms, he's gonna make a killing as a reliever. He's essentially two pitchers in one.
