    UTAH???

Does anyone know if Utah is still a good team? We all know when Urban Meyer was there they were a top 10 team, but really how good are they know?

Some consider them a credible contender for a BCS bowl this year. I would exspect them to be very good.

    Re: UTAH???

They beat Cal in the Poinsettia Bowl last year and finished the season ranked #18 in the coaches & AP Polls. They only had 3 losses last year, all to ranked teams - Oregon by 7, TCU by 27, and BYU by 3 in OT.

Edit: According to ESPN, they had 47 Freshmen on their roster last year!

They are going to be VERY good this year. Started a true freshman at quarterback last year and they return just about everyone of importance. If the QB performs like he appears to be capable of they will be this years non BCS powerhouse.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

We definitely wanted him. I think he was one of our first QB offers to go out.

I thought they have some major losses on both lines?

    Re: UTAH???

I think last year was kind of a reloading year for Utah. I fully expect it to be a very tall task for us, barring a surprise we'll be underdogs. But IMO this game is the key to a bowl appearance, a loss would equal no bowl.

    Re: UTAH???

According to their depth chart for the Poinsettia Bowl, they're losing 5 starters on offense and 7 starters on defense:

Offense: Left Tackle, 3 wide receivers, and the tight end
Defense: Defensive end, all three linebackers, cornerback, free safety, strong safety

My understanding is that next year is expected to be a rebuilding year for Utah, while Boise State and TCU were both very young this past year.

Utah will be good and will probably be favored when they come to town.
