Iowa State: Anyone who's a true college basketball fan needs to see a game at Hilton Coliseum. Nice is in the DNA of Iowans and the fans here are particularly gracious -- even when the home team loses but gives a great effort, they are appreciative.

ESPN.com picked Hilton Coliseum as the "Hot Arena" in the Big 12...coaches in the league noted that, "regardless of talent, the Cyclones have a home court like no other."

Voepel is a big Fennelly fan, we usually get one or two good articles out of her during the season. This was one was very good as well.

Re: Iowa State on the front of ESPN WBB page

"All that said, don't think Fennelly and the Cyclones are just going to stay in Ames and send a white flag to Dayton. He is both a motivator and a tactician, and he'll tell his players to fight until they're figuratively carried out on their shields.

And because they're Iowa State Cyclones, they'll do it."

    This is an awesome quote.

It will at least make things interesting. I'm intrigued to see how he has them approach this game to say the least.

Any guesses out there? I say we foul them like crazy. Bring in Lightbourne, Cole, maybe Flo and Mosman to hack everything until they all foul out (1 or 2 at a time).

Of course, I have no idea what's been tried and failed out there (other than everything has failed).

May my postings be polite and not misunderstood. (And hopefully funny on occasion.)

I think he'll try to take all but one aspect of their game away and make that one piece beat us.

My guess is that he'll single Charles in the post, basically letting her score (a la Appel last year) and try to take they guards, especially Moore, out of the game.

    Or something like that.

"For me, it's about quality of life," Fennelly said of staying in women's basketball. "I love the game, love the kids. I love the idea that you're still teaching and coaching, not maybe babysitting somebody to get to the NBA."
