    Where's Lickliter??

Did anyone let him know that Mr. Basketball in the state of Iowa was open? I figured that would be a top priority after hearing of the news about him and Indiana State. With less time than McDermott had last year, I think Vette would have been a perfect get for him. Or have I just completely missed something in the news?

Or maybe McDermott is just that good and Vette would rather be here than there?

    Re: Where's Lickliter??

Well the guy just started working here a week ago...He's still doesn't have a full staff and is trying to hold onto their current recruits.

We had a lot of things going for us on this one. It looks like Iowa really never had much of a chance.

Especially with the release of Dairese Gary, Iowa probably has a more pressing need for guards...

Or maybe Lickliter challenged McDermott to a street fight for the rights to talk to him and...you know, come to think of it I haven't heard or seen anything of Lickliter in the past few days...

    Re: Where's Lickliter??

I read an article recently when he was at a press conference he was asked what he thought about not having an Iowa kids on the roster. He said he was surprised to find this out.

IMO, he is just trying to stop the bleeding concentrating on his current players.

The guys is too giddy with excitement to remember his own car, maybe he forgot about recruiting.

    Re: Where's Lickliter??

The way it all went down, it sounds like Vette was ours to lose (I mean he took an unofficial visit and signed on the same day).

I don't think this is a McDermott outrecruiting Lickliter thing. I think Vette just wanted to play for McD at ISU. Nothing more, nothing less.

    Re: Where's Lickliter??

Someone from Lickliter's staff had contacted Vette's coach. But ol' Todd was out of the picture on this from the start. Barda was a coach at Iowa State with Floyd. McDermott and Vette had a prior relationship. Everything in this was pointing Vette toward Iowa State.

    Re: Where's Lickliter??

I think the Indiana State coach was peaved at Iowa for not letting him being the coach , and mentioned it to Mac that Vette was leaving before it went official. Another good thing happeening

Is anyone else horrified to think of the signs students are going to make for this game next winter?
