    Blown Forecast in Colorado.....

Ok fellow Clonies.... have there been any insanely inaccurate weather forecasts back in Iowa or the upper midwest this winter? Let me tell ya about the blunder here in CO yesterday and today... fellow Colorado Clones, perhaps you can add in...

there was talk of a huge storm since monday, and by thursday morning, there were winter storm warnings along the front range, from wyoming to south of pueblo.. it was supposed to start raining thurs afternoon and turn to snow thurs evening and dump 12-18 inches in the foothills and 6-12 inches in the denver metro by friday morning. In fact, United and Frontier pre-emptively cancelled thurs night and friday flights before it even started raining.

I wake up this morning and see green snow errrr GRASS in the lawn, not a snowflake in sight..... WTF?? then, it was hilarious catching the mid day news and the forecast had changed to "an inch or two still possible in the denver metro today" yeah, right. more like CYA!! The stupid reporters were broadcasting live from various denver locations pretending that it was still dangerous out there with wet conditions. Typical media sensationalization of a non-story. What profession out there can you be so wrong in and yet keep your job? I'm sure the grocery stores and wal-marts were loving the predictions however.

I realize as a scientist myself the randomness and chaotic nature of atmospheric phenomenon, but this mis-call was one for the ages. When you're throwing around numbers like 12-18 inches, you should be pretty sure of whats in store. As a friend of mine said recently after an earlier blown forecast..."and they expect us to believe their predictions on climate change?"

I believe that banking institutions are more dangerous to our liberties than standing armies. If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around the banks will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered.

I was expecting a blizzard based on the paranoid ramblings of the weathercasters here. I will forgive Kathy Sabine (mmmmmm, Kathy )

I guess it is all fine, I am getting sick of snow anyway.

That's the only reason I'm not more ticked off about the incorrect forecast. Basically made no social plans this weekend because of the expected weather issues. But the winter here in Denver has been very long and Iowa-like, and I am ready for some decent weather for a change!

    Re: Blown Forecast in Colorado.....

I flew from Des Moines through Denver to PHoenix Thursday morning. I was told that it was a good thing we got out of Denver when we did because they were sure that they were going to get hammered later that morning and afternoon.

Now I'm flying back through tomorrow morning so I'm wondering what the hell will happen.

Hope is not a method. Soon is not a time.

I just flew back from St. Paul, MN today to CO and people I work with were saying I'd be lucky to make it home. It was 50 F and sunny when I pulled into my drive at 5 tonight. haha.

The Iowa Cubs baseball game yesterday with Albuquerque was stopped after six innings so the Albuquerque team could catch a flight through Denver before the storm hit. They wanted to make sure they made it to tonight game wherever it was at.

    Re: Blown Forecast in Colorado.....

Well, if it's any consolation, the weather prognosticators were right on down here. They've been predicting severe weather for Friday for the past 3 days, and the tornadoes came today. One death so far and lots of damage...

The meteorologists can't win them all.... Mother Nature seems to always have a curve-ball up her sleeve!

Yeah, they have no idea what will happen tomorrow, but 100 years from now......they've got that one pegged!

I think Mother Nature throws a fairly decent curve ball, Major League caliber.

Then again, if the Cubs signed Mother Nature, she'd be facing a season ending injury and Tommy John surgery...
