    Need Some Advice

Ok, so alot of people won't care about this and sorry in advance for that. Anyway, got my fantasy BB draft tomorrow. 10 team league(head to head) and new CBS draft staggers the draft differently. I have the 4th and 11 pick overall. My question is.....should I draft someone like Chase Utley or Ryan Braun with the 4 pick and HOPE that Mauer is there with #11??? Or should I just take Joe at #4 and roll the dice??? Joe is my favorite player and I really want him on my team this year, but I want to win too. What should I do???

I take that back...I'd go Mauer with your first pick.

That's what I thought but they list him at #5, not including pitchers???

I'd take Mauer and hope Lincecum falls to 11.

I don't understand CBS rankings....they list Lincecum at 19 overall but project him to get the second most points overall????? They list Mauer at 5 overall but project him to get the 15th most points???? Confused!!!!

Take Mauer. I'm not sure why you'd consider Utley or Braun over him. But I doubt he is going to fall to 11. At least that would be my thinking.

I'd think the chances of Braun or Utley being around by then are better than Mauer.

The key is to maximize your total points scored. Catcher is not typically an offensive position, and Joe Mauer is far and away the most productive catcher. The argument for Mauer over someone like Braun is simple because there are a lot more outfielders who produce respectable fantasy points than there are at catcher.

In total rankings....Braun is 4th and Utley 6th??? Maybe just because of the lineups they play with?

No problem -- even if you are a Twins fan. I give passes to those with an allegiance to Iowa State.

    Re: Need Some Advice

I play on Yahoo instead of CBS and playing Rotisserie instead of Head-to-Head, but I'm putting Mauer #2 in my predraft rankings. I want make sure I get him if I end up picking somewhere between 2 and 5.

    Re: Need Some Advice

Top flight catchers and second basemen will get high rankings because there are so few of them that can put up legit numbers. If you get the #4 catcher or second baseman the dropoff will be much greater than the #4 starting pitcher or closer.

This is what I was thinking because there are always avg 2 start pitchers that offset aces in fantasy!! I think if he's there at 4, I'm taking him!!
