UK is going to be tough to beat

After seeing UK in person in the 1st and 2nd Round games of the NCAA Tournament I would not bet against them winning the NCAA Championship.

They are very fundamentally sound on both ends of the court, tremendously athletic, and very physical/tough. I think they have 10 guys that could start on most teams in the country.

Cousins, Patterson, and Orton are big, physical, know how to use their bodies, and have tremendous hands. Wall and Bledsoe can both knock down outside shots (Bledsoe's shooting form is tremendous while Wall is much more of a scorer type). Their "role players" like Miller and Liggins would be stars on just about any other team out there.

Most importantly, they are a very unselfish team that plays very tough defense (especially in the paint). The only weak link on the defensive end appears to be Wall.

    UK is good...really good.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.

Not a fan of Calapari, and KU losing means one less team capable of beating UK (and that is the only bad thing about KU losing)

Re: UK is going to be tough to beat

One more thing about UK. Cousins is going to be a Rasheed Wallace type of player in the NBA...getting tons of technical fouls, having lots of altercations with other players, and maybe even fighting some with fans. He is a great talent but he has a big temper.

I don't know why or how those kids ended up on that team.

What I do know is that, as tremendously gifted as they are athletically, I was incredibly impressed with their fundamentals, their BB IQ, and their very unselfish style of play.

They have a lot of talent on that team and you have to give Calipari credit for getting them to play as a team.

Wouldn't shock me at all if Cornell beat them next week. Kentucky doesn't play well against teams like Cornell

Re: UK is going to be tough to beat

Every year, some team destroys the first two rounds, and gets anointed as unbeatable, it seems like. Every time, that team runs into a buzzsaw in the Sweet 16.

Of course, this might end up being Cornell the way they're killing teams.

Since we are an elite team now, let's go get that One Cyclone Moment.
Make this one for the ages!

Re: UK is going to be tough to beat

Mississippi State gave them all they could handle in their tourney, as a matter of fact, UK was lucky to get the tap in with .1 seconds on the clock in regulation sending it to OT. Mississppi State didn't get in the dance.

They're beatable...but that may have been their wake-up call too.

Athleticism always makes you look like a smarter player. If that team is beaten it will be because the other team played smarter. That is the only way I see it happening now.

Re: UK is going to be tough to beat

I was able to attend 5 or so games at Rupp this year and have been very impressed how Coach Cal has been able to get these freshmen to play so well together.

I totally disagree with the post above re: Cousins. He got a bad rap early but has actually done an amazing job keeping his cool in scenarios where all of us would lose it. Coaches publicly gameplan to take advantage of his presumed short fuse but it hasn't worked since the Louisville game (where he responded to getting kneed in the head).

I have been nothing but impressed with the way these guys have handled themselves around campus/town and otherwise. I think Cal gets a bad rap but if you dig for the real story he's doing nothing different than anyone else. Not to say that he doesn't occasionally step into the gray zone, but when he's there he's asking for room because it's crowded.
