    Vegans

Got an vegeterians who want to comment on why they choose that kind of lifestyle? I run across some of these Hollywood stars Bio's who are Vegans and I just kinda wonder why? Did they really think about that decision or was it a fad thing they dove into?

I love meat and think people are designed to eat it We're omnivores and can eat both plants and meats, but truly only do well long term if we eat both. Yes most Americans should eat less meat and more vegetables. No disputing that fact. I've really tried to start eating more fish the last few years.

    i don't know any fish.

As far as depth goes though, the combination of White, Woodbury, Olaseni, Basabe, and Uthoff is much better than Niang, Ejim, Edozie, Gibson. Not because of the top 2, but because of the next 2 or 3. -DeanVogs

    Re: Vegans

Not vegetarian, but appreciate the lifestyle. I've been slowly switching over to a healthier diet and have enjoyed ideas in some vegetarian books. Growing up on a farm, I'll never be able to give up meat completely, but I do enjoy mixing in a lot of vegetarian dishes to my staple recipes.

    Re: Vegans

Some people from places like India have religious reasons for eating vegetarian.

    Re: Vegans

Usually its either for health reasons, religion, or they feel its wrong to eat animals.

    I know I couldn't do it.

    Re: Vegans

We have a couple of friends who are vegans. They currently live in Iowa City - I guess it's a lot easier to find restaurants that will support the menu needs over there than it is around here. They do it for a couple of reasons - the husband has some GI problems, and they both don't eat meat for animal rights reasons. I know several other regular vegetarians, but those are the only two vegans.

    Re: Vegans

I could maybe think about vegetarian, but the no milk and no eggs thing would be too much for me.

    Re: Vegans

My sister is "vegeterian" because she does not like the taste of meat. I use the term vegeterian loosely because she will eat meat from time to time and does eat fish.

Vegan does not eat anything that comes from animals, including dairy.

Vegetarians usually don't eat meat, but a lot of them still eat cheese, milk, etc. Vegans don't eat ANY animal products. Even certain breads are out if they're made with animal fat.

    Re: Vegans

    Thanks.

I like to cook, but I wouldn't want to spend the research time to see what products have been made from animals or not.

Assuming that they carry the no animal thing over to other products as well.
