    Athletic Department Infractions

Thought this was interesting, to look up Iowa State as well as some of our Big XII companions and of course Iowa - it's the site that pulls up all Major Infractions by athletic departments for any school...Type in the school, leave everything else, and hit search. Only 1 infraction on ISU in the last 50 years, back in the 80's!
    Enjoy the afternoon...

    Re: Athletic Department Infractions

    Schools of note:

    Texas A&M - 7
    Kansas State - 6
    Kansas - 6
    Oklahoma - 6
    Baylor - 5
    Oklahoma State - 4
    Colorado - 4
    Missouri - 4
    Nebraska - 4
    Texas - 4
    Iowa - 3
    Texas Tech - 2
    Iowa State - 1

Hard to draw a lot of conclusions from that, except that most schools who have had major success in sports at some time have at least a few major infractions throughout this period. Notice how we only have one... Kansas, Oklahoma have 6.... and everyone else has more than us in the Big 12. Interesting.

    Re: Athletic Department Infractions

The more success you have, the more the NCAA will look into what you're doing. That doesn't mean schools having success are cheating, but you wouldn't think the schools not winning are cheating much. If they are, they suck at that too.

    Re: Athletic Department Infractions

Actually, most infractions are reported by a rival school in the conference. Or alternatively, self reported.

The NCAA usually does not find these things on their own...they start digging when they get a call from a conference school that says "conference member XYZ is doing...ABC".

The reality is that the targets of these calls are generally they schools having the most success. So it does not surprise me to see the more athletically successful schools at the top of the list. Everyone is jealous of the top dog and wants to knock him off his perch.

Just look at this site...a few weeks ago someone posted a thread accusing Ohio State of "playing dirty" because they have recently signed a number of very good BB prospects...so they MUST be cheating. Nothing more than jealousy.

I cheer for two teams, Iowa State and whoever is playing the hawkeyes.
