    Windows Phone 7

    Windows Phone 7 Series

I am kind of excited for this. Its getting quite a buzz and reviews have been solid thusfar. In the past I never really looked at windows based phones, but I cant look away from this. I really like how well Silverlight is doing as well. Seems to be picking up steam and this phone will really help boost its popularity.

Curious what the price point will be.

    Re: Windows Phone 7

I'm going to guess it won't do well. But I'll get one and give it a try. I hope they put a good browser on it.

I used Windows Mobile phones from 2000 to about 2007. Initially with Exchange sync they were ahead of their time. They just never really did anything with the lead. It's too bad.

I'm an Android phone guy right now but I'm kind of intrigued by this as well. I have a ZuneHD and I love it. Slick interface and an awesome device (screen, industrial design, etc.).

    Re: Windows Phone 7

I thought I couldn't stay away from windows phones as well, so I decided to go with the Touch Pro2. Well, I couldn't have been more wrong. I altered my ram, adjusted open apps, and it still lagged. I finally converted it to Android thanks to xda-developers.com and haven't had a problem since. It sucks that all previous versions of windows phones will not be able to run 7.

They seem to be thinking outside the box on this one. I agree the win mobile phones of the past have been mediocre, but they are really attacking the market with this. I have been impressed with the comments from the major tech critics. MS is putting alot of manpower and thought into this release. I hope it pays off.

Looks good; the no multi-tasking and no copy/paste thing is probably going to come back to bite them, though

This is being highly discussed in their forums. Im curious if that will get changed before launch. Release date is sometime holiday 2010. Those are big wants for mobile users, I cant imagine they will completely leave them out. Who knows though.

    Re: Windows Phone 7

It certainly can't be any worse than their current generation OS.

It's being quite clearly aimed at the consumer market as well. IMO, if MS wants to get a huge foothold in the mobile space, they are going to have to subsidize these things and get as many out there as they possibly can (ala XBox). The experience they are looking to put out there is so very similar to what Apple is doing, they are going to have to differentiate on price.

Trying to out-Apple Apple generally doesn't work well unless you execute better (unlikely, especially in a space they already have such a strong foothold in), or beat them significantly on price (possible, with MS's deep pockets).

It doesn't sound like this OS is really aimed at the RIM folks, or even necessarily the previous WinMo crowd.

It'll be interesting to see what happens.

I still think the best OS out there at the moment is WebOS, but it's just not gaining traction for whatever reason.
