    Big Star fans...

If there are any Big Star fans out there, some sad news today:

Memphis music legend Alex Chilton dies The Commercial Appeal

If you haven't heard Big Star and like power pop, check out their song, "September Gurls". Great stuff.

    Big loss.

Ironic given the recent music discussions. Big Star was a truly an under appreciated group. (of course, this thread has only 1 response in 15 hours, same in life as death)

yeah, it's really sad that they weren't more well known. A great group and some great music. For those of you who aren't aware of Big Star, he was also the lead singer for the Boxtops.

Very sad news. "Thank You, Friends" is a very cool song, too. To quote Paul Westerberg, "I never travel far without a little Big Star".

    Re: Big Star fans...

One of rock an roll's biggest tragedies was Big Star going unnoticed until after they had split.

Cranked "Back of a Car" this morning.

In 1984, I was hospitalized for approaching perfection.
