    RIP Big Earls!

They just bulldozed that building on Duff yesterday. Definitely an eyesore, but we had some pretty good times there while it was open! Oh well, it's been vacated for years, so I'm glad someone is doing something with the lot.

Ames Tribune > Ames Tribune > News

Aside from that, I see that the whole lot with the bowling alley is up for sale. Evidently, the bowling alley is going to relocate if there's a buyer. That's a huge lot that could attract some heavy hitters. They'd need to build the whole thing up a few feet to avoid flooding, but that's not a huge issue. I'd love to see a Kohls or Old Navy move in. Not a lot of clothes options in Ames, especially for kids. From what I've heard, BWW is coming to S. Duff, it's just a matter of time.

Went there 2 days prior to going into Marine Corps Boot camp. Needless to say the entertainers were more than entertaining. It's amazing what they would do for a dollar.

Good deal, that building has been a dump for as long as I can remember.

They will probably have to designate that lot an EPA Superfund site to clean up all the debauchery that went on at Big Earl's!

I was just hoping for some interesting ads on the side of the thread, but I can't even get a cheap thrill there either.

The title is misleading. I thought this was a thread about the Big Earls in Des Moines closing.
