    Underachieving artists/bands

Alright, we have had some music talk now let's switch it up a little. Let's go with the bands/artists that never met their potential one way or another.

I will start this thing off with Nirvana. I know, obviously, but I don't want to take all the good ones.

Rockpile. Dave Edmunds and Nick Lowe together! Only one LP and then kaput. It is a great LP so that always made me wish they could have hung around until they started to get stale.

No matter what, I could NEVER cheer for Dirt and Urine.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Until my wife introduced me to their music, I hadn't even heard of them. They have a lot of great songs, and they were really good in concert (at a little dive in Omaha).

I think Hootie and the Blowfish got a bad deal, their music is awesome to this day and yet they never got the long-term mainstream success they deserve.

I would agree and I would say The Blues Traveler as well.

Gram Parsons and Jimi Hendrix come to mind.

    Re: Underachieving artists/bands

How is "underachieving" being defined here?

Some mentioned, so far, had great careers until the front man died (Nirvana, Sublime, Jimi, for example).

I would put a band like Silverchair in the category of underachieving, but I might be missing the point.

My Rock Band band is not getting the cred it deserves.

Initially I intended it to be a band/artist who got off to a great strt and then never had a full successful career. Now I think we have moved to pretty much under-anything.
