    Date Night: Waterfront

Have a date coming up at the University Waterfront Seafood Market Restaurant. Never been there before... and I love seafood so I'm really excited. Do I need to call ahead for dinner reservations on a weeknight? How fancy of a place is it? Will I smell like fish when I leave? Will she smell like fish while we're there?

    Thanks for the help.

Now that MBB is back, do we still have to pretend that WBB matters?

    Re: Date Night: Waterfront

If it's a weeknight you probably won't need a reservation, but it can get a little crowded on Wednesdays because that's when they run specials, so it probably wouldn't hurt... It's pretty casual.

Not the fanciest place in the world, but that's ok. I like it because it's not stuffy like Splash. Jeans at Waterfront would not be underdressed. But with jeans, maybe a shirt with buttons would be appropriate.

Walking on water is easy. Just do it in December when it's frozen.

For your sake, I sure hope not.

If she smells like fish, there's no need for a second date.

What ever happened to the blonde wife of the guy who owns the place? Did they get a divorce? I knew her in the early 90s, but have not seen her since then.

Considering we're talking about a seafood joint, I just about burst out laughing.

I also remember a game with Kansas when Cy (wore a huge suit then) went out to center field, squatted, and "pooped" a couple of chickens that had been dyed blue then chased them around.

This used to be the only place you could get good fresh sushi in Iowa. They used to fly fish in overnight. I haven't been there in 8 years or so, but was impressed back in the day.

Yes, but the food is fantastic. Best seafood in Des Moines by far.

While on live TV, Ford used a vulgar term to describe a private part of the female anatomy, adding that he was “happily married” and “got more than enough to eat at home.”

I do see older folks there. But it's Iowa. They are everywhere.

And like The_Architect said, best seafood in Des Moines.
