I hope Larry's team kills La Tech because of this and I also am a LSU fan and hate La Tech.

It's a story to read, but that's about where it ends.

As much as I would have liked to have seen BVD suspend Eustachy until he completed rehab as opposed to firing the guy, I think Eustachy has a lot more ownership in the firing than BVD.

I'm not discounting what LE did, but like many, I think it could have been handled a lot differently by the University. No one would have thought badly of the University or the AD if they had put LE on leave for some time, and given him time to get healthy. That is what they would have done if he had contracted an illness, and alcoholism is an illness. It could have been handled better than it was. LE had a problem.......he had not committed any crimes.

Despite what he might say in public, one has to wonder what LE really feels about the situation and how it was handled.

    I totally agree.

I should have expanded on my post. It's no secret LE went through rehab. Part of rehab and getting back on the road to recovery is recognizing and acknowledging the consequences of your actions (in this case, LE's).

LE and BVD may not be best buds, but I think LE would admit that he doesn't hold a grudge for the firing because he knows it was his actions that led to the ultimate consequence.

Yeah, but this was not just a case of 'alcoholism'. It was a case of insubordination more than anything.

No question Eustachy's firing is a direct result of his actions, whether you agree that those actions were enough to be fired or not (at the time I was more in favor of the firing as I thought it'd be nearly impossible for him to recruit against the rest of the Big 12 - now I'm not so sure).

That being said, it is well documented that LE and BVDV did not get along, and BVDV was looking for any reason to fire LE. Unfortunately, LE gave BVDV enough reason to fire him - in spades.
